Robert Axelrod is a writer based in Los Angeles, originally hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Robert is a past recipient of the Humanitas New Voices fellowship, CineStory TV fellowship, and was part of the recent inaugural class of the Jewish Writer Initiative’s Digital Storyteller Lab. In 2020, Robert was recognized as a winner of the A-List, an annual competition honoring the best work by assistants in the entertainment industry.


He is a previous Grand Prize Winner in the ScreenCraft Stage Play Competition, selected by a panel of judges including Pulitzer Prize Winners Stephen Adly Guirgis and Nilo Cruz. His award-winning play went on to have a staged reading with the IAMA Theatre Company, as part of their New Works Festival. Robert was also recently named one of the winners of the Echo Theater Company’s inaugural playwriting competition.

His work has also placed in several other writing contests and fellowships, most notably as a finalist for the Austin Film Festival, Final Draft Big Break Competition, Orchard Project Performance Lab, and as a two-time semifinalist for the ABC Disney Television Writing Program.

 

In addition to his professional and creative pursuits, Robert has been a volunteer crisis service counselor with the Trevor Project, the nation’s leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention service for LGBTQ youth.
